John Phalen, CSC, followed by praise and worship lead by musicians from the Pro-Life Apostolate and Bishop Stang.   After the [...]]]> GNBCS Rosary Rally 2010GNBCS students from the five elementary schools gathered with Bishop Stang Campus Ministry Students to show Respect for Life in prayer and song.    The Rally began with the celebration of the Mass by Fr. John Phalen, CSC, followed by praise and worship lead by musicians from the Pro-Life Apostolate and Bishop Stang.   After the blessing of rosaries provided by Holy Cross Family Ministries, and  keynote speakers Judith Studer, custodian of the United Nations Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, and Fr David Marcham from Holy Cross Family Ministries, students joined in praying the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.  Representatives from each school formed a living rosary surrounding the entire assembly, as other members of their class lead the prayers for each decade.

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week the Greater New Bedford Catholic elementary schools joined with the students of Bishop Stang High School in a joint FIAT (Faith in Action Together) project.   The FIAT Book Drive was a huge success and the students collected an astonishing 3500 children’s books which were donated to an inner city [...]]]>  

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week the Greater New Bedford Catholic elementary schools joined with the students of Bishop Stang High School in a joint FIAT (Faith in Action Together) project.   The FIAT Book Drive was a huge success and the students collected an astonishing 3500 children’s books which were donated to an inner city elementary school’s literacy program. The books not used by the elementary school are to be donated to a middle school and a service organization in the greater New Bedford area.
The FIAT program (Faith In Action Together) is Bishop Stang’s Christian Service program. All Stang juniors and seniors are required to participate in at least one FIAT per year (graduation requirement), although many choose to do more than one.  Each program includes an educational, service, and reflective component.
